Canadian born Peter Martin developed his first pictures at age 13 and became a professional at 16 when a photo was published on the front page of a Toronto daily newspaper. From that time, he has been both freelance and staff photographer for various newspapers, news outlets and publications throughout Canada and the US (Oakville Journal Record, Edmonton Sun, Montreal Gazette and the Washington Post) and published in international publications such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, Time, Newsweek, Sport’s Illustrated and McLean’s.

As one of Canada’s most respected photojournalists he has won significant critical recognition for his work including the National Newspaper Award for his photograph of Terry Fox and Recognition of Achievement Awards from both the Ontario News Photographers Association and the Alberta News Photographers Association. In 2008 his photograph of Terry Fox was voted #4 of the Top Ten Historical Photos That Changed Canada.
Since 2002 his work has been displayed in major solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibits in the UK, Canada and the US where he’s won awards with the Washington Gallery of Photography the Maryland Federation of Art. He was honoured with being chosen as a participant in both the Day In The Life Of Canada and Day In The Life of the N.H.L. book projects. Peter Martin also teaches workshops helping to inspire other photographers to develop their own skills and build their own self-confidence in a modern world over saturated with imagery.
